Remedy is officially working on Control 2

Remedy created its best game yet with Control back in 2019. The studio has since shifted to working on Alan Wake 2, as well as a couple of other unannounced projects, putting a Control sequel on the back burner for a while. Now, Remedy has reached a new agreement with 505 Games for Control 2.

Today, Remedy announced that it has signed with 505 Games once again to co-develop and co-publish Control 2. The game was previously in development under the codename ‘Heron', which was in the concept stage in late 2021. According to today's announcement, the game is still in the concept stage, so it will be quite a while before we get to see the game in action.

Control 2’s initial development budget amounts to €50 million, and Remedy will retain the ownership of the game’s intellectual property. The development, marketing, and post-launch investments as well as the future net revenues generated by the game will be equally split between 505 Games and Remedy.

The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and it will be built on Remedy’s proprietary Northlight engine and tools.

KitGuru Says: As exciting as Alan Wake 2 is going to be, Control is my favourite Remedy game to date and I am very excited to see a sequel on the way. Did many of you play Control back in 2019? Will you be returning for the sequel?
