Since launching in October 2023, Remedy has issued regular updates on the status of Alan Wake 2 sales. For a long time, the game had not yet returned a profit, but that has finally changed this year.
In its latest financial earnings report, Remedy Entertainment confirmed that Alan Wake 2 has now surpassed two million sales and has become profitable for the first time. All development and marketing costs were recouped by the end of 2024, making this the first year that Remedy will begin earning royalty payments from sales.
The rise to profitability was aided by the release of two fantastic DLCs for Alan Wake 2 in 2024. The Night Springs and Lake House DLCs further expand on the growing Remedy universe, with more crossovers between Alan Wake and Control.
Remedy has another game coming out late this year – FBC: Firebreak, a new multiplayer co-op shooter set in the same world as Control. However, its links to Control will be very minimal, boiling down to a sharing of certain themes, but nothing else beyond that.

KitGuru Says: Alan Wake 2 was such a massive improvement on the first game and it showed Remedy's story telling reaching new heights. With that in mind, we should all be excited for the Max Payne remakes, and the upcoming sequel to Control.
