Quake ‘Revitalised Edition’ teased for Quakecon next week

Earlier this week, Bethesda announced the full schedule for QuakeCon, which is set to take place next week. As expected, there is a segment on Quake for the series' 25th anniversary, but it seems that Bethesda may have a big surprise up its sleeve in the form of a remake.

The Quake stream will be hosted by id Software and interestingly, Machine Games. In an early, now removed version of the schedule, the words “Quake is back” can be found on this part of the schedule, as well as the promise of a “revitalised edition” (via Xboxera), indicating that we'll be getting a revamped version of the original Quake with additional content.

We've been expecting at least one surprise game announcement during Quakecon, in large part due to id Software obtaining ratings for a mysterious ‘Project 2021A' and ‘Project 2021B' in Australia.

Machine Games has been working on the Wolfenstein series for the last few years and more recently, the studio was confirmed to be working on an Indiana Jones game. From the sounds of it, Machine Games will be releasing one more title before going all in on its Indiana Jones project.

KitGuru Says: Quake Champions appears to have been left behind at this point, but a revamped Quake 1 could fill the void soon enough.
