Project xCloud joins Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on the 15th of September

Just a few weeks ago, Microsoft announced its intentions to officially launch Project xCloud in September, bundling it in as part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership. Now, we have some more specific details, including an exact launch date and a list of supported games.

Beginning on the 15th of September, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will get unhindered access to xCloud streaming. The service will be available in 22 countries to start off with in order to ensure stability, then wider rollouts will occur in the months to come. For now, it also appears that xCloud will only be available via Game Pass Ultimate and not as a standalone subscription, or in a bundle with just Game Pass for Console or PC.

As part of Xbox Game Pass, Project xCloud will have support for over 100 games right from the start. Some of those games include:

  • Ark: Survival Evolved
  • Bleeding Edge
  • Costume Quest 2
  • Crackdown 3 (campaign)
  • Destiny 2
  • F1 2019
  • Forza Horizon 4
  • Gears of War: Ultimate Edition
  • Gears of War 4
  • Gears 5 Ultimate Edition
  • Grounded
  • Halo 5: Guardians
  • Halo Wars: Definitive Edition
  • Halo Wars 2
  • Halo: The Master Chief Collection
  • Halo: Spartan Assault
  • Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
  • Killer Instinct Definitive Edition
  • Max: The Curse of Brotherhood
  • Minecraft Dungeons
  • The Outer Worlds
  • Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps
  • Quantum Break
  • ReCore: Definitive Edition
  • Ryse: Son of Rome
  • Sea of Thieves: Anniversary Edition
  • State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition
  • Sunset Overdrive
  • Super Lucky’s Tale
  • Tell Me Why
  • The Bard’s Tale Trilogy
  • Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut
  • Wasteland 3
  • Wasteland Remastered
  • Yakuza Kiwami 2

The full list of supported games will be made available on the 15th of September. From the sounds of it, there will be some games on Game Pass for Console or Game Pass for PC that won't be supported. Some notable ones missing from the list right now include Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami 2, Gears Tactics, Carrion and Fallout 76: Wastelanders.

KitGuru Says: We'll have some more details next month. Hopefully around launch, we can also learn when to expect xCloud to expand to other platforms, as at launch, it will be limited to Android devices only.
