Prison Architect 2 delayed again just weeks ahead of launch

Prison Architect was a huge hit back when it first launched. For the sequel, the developers are going in a different direction with 3D graphics, rather than the first game's 2D-cartoon style. Unfortunately, while the game was set to arrive soon, delays have pushed the game back by several months.

Prison Architect 2 was initially slated for a March launch, it was eventually delayed until May. Now, just weeks ahead of the new release date, the game has been delayed for a more significant amount of time, pushing it back to September 3rd.

In a statement, Paradox Interactive confirmed that issues related to memory usage were holding the game back, causing unexpected stability issues. These problems would appear more often on low-spec PC configurations, and given that the original game could run on almost any PC, Paradox wants to ensure it can keep system requirements in check for the sequel.

Despite having a version of the game ready to go for PC and console platforms, the game will be delayed an extra four months. Stability issues can often lead to additional unexpected bugs for players, which can cause huge issues at the launch of a game. With that in mind, this delay is no doubt for the best.

KitGuru Says: Paradox Interactive had a rough launch with City Skylines 2 in late 2023, so it is good to see more time being given here for another highly anticipated strategy game. Hopefully when Prison Architect 2 does arrive, it does so in a good state.
