Prince of Persia Remake recently passed an important internal milestone, Ubisoft says

While there was a ton of excitement for the Prince of Persia remake, much of that was squandered when we saw the reveal trailer. Since then, Ubisoft has moved the project to a different studio and has essentially started over from scratch. Earlier this year, the publisher confirmed that the remake had gone back to the concept phase and now to end off 2023, we have another update.

Last night as part of an acknowledgement of the series' 20th anniversary, Ubisoft stated that the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake passed “an important internal milestone” at its Montreal studio recently and the game is progressing. Of course, this doesn't mean that there won't be additional delays or reboots later but for now, the project appears to be back on track.

The Prince of Persia remake is one of two major remakes Ubisoft has planned for two of its most popular dormant IP. The original Splinter Cell is also getting a remake, although we're still some ways off from getting our hands on that game too. Ubisoft is also undergoing a lengthy process to bring back Beyond Good and Evil with a sequel, but six years on from announcement, we don't appear close to a release date there either.

Hopefully we can get a meaningful update on the Prince of Persia remake in 2024.

KitGuru Says: When the Prince of Persia remake does resurface, it will no doubt look better than the version we were going to get back in 2020. Hopefully over the next 12 months, we can get a more meaningful update on the game beyond ‘we're working on it'.
