Pokemon Legends Z-A is launching right around the time we’re supposed to get a Switch 2

Aside from updates to Pokémon Unite, Pokémon Go, Pokémon Sleep and the announcement of a new version of the Pokémon TCG for mobile devices, today's Pokémon Presents stream also brought the unveiling of the next major Pokémon game, although there is still quite a wait ahead for fans.

Pokémon Legends ZA will be the next major game in the franchise from GameFreak. While the previous Legends game, Pokémon Legends Arceus was set in the past, Pokémon Legends ZA will be set in the future.

The new game is set in Kalos, the region that appeared prominently in Pokémon X and Y for the 3DS. This does mean that plenty of classic Pokémon from the original #151 will be returning, like Mew-Two, Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle. We will also see the return of Mega Evolutions in the game.

Unfortunately, the game is not coming out this year. Instead, the game is scheduled to launch in early 2025, which also happens to be right around the time that Nintendo is rumoured to be launching its next-gen console. With that in mind, this could very well be a launch title for the next system, although for now, GameFreak has only confirmed a release for the current Nintendo Switch.

KitGuru Says: The launch window here is perhaps the most interesting piece of news. Current rumours suggest that the Switch 2 will launch in March 2025, which would be right around the time this game is supposed to come out.
