Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis launches in June

It has been close to a year since SEGA first announced Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis during an Xbox Game Studios showcase. The new version of the MMO is a complete overhaul of the game, similar to what Square Enix did with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Now, we know when it'll be releasing, and it is not too far off.

This week, the Phantasy Star Online 2 team confirmed that New Genesis will be releasing in June, although they stopped short of giving a specific day.

For those eager to see New Genesis in action first-hand, there will be a closed beta running next month, from the 14th of May until the 17th. Since this is a closed beta, you'll need to sign up for access and hope for an invite. A month or so later, the game will roll out for everyone.

Similarly to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is a separate game to the original. It is the ‘next generation’ of PSO2, built on a new engine with a rebuilt game world and a new main story set 1,000 years after the original.

So far, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is confirmed to be releasing on both PC and Xbox consoles. Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: I've been looking forward to this for quite some time. Have many of you played the original Phantasy Star Online 2? Will you be jumping back in once New Genesis drops?
