Overwatch 2 beta is coming next month

We've known for months now that Overwatch 2 will debut this year as part of the next season of Overwatch League. However, we did not know if Blizzard would opt to hold a publicly playable beta for non-pros. That changed last night, with Blizzard announcing plans to begin beta testing the game in April.

As with the original Overwatch, the beta is invite-only for the time being. Players are allowed to sign-up for the beta program and invites will be sent out in waves as testing goes on throughout the year. The beta will be PvP-only, with the new 5v5 structure for matches, so don't expect to get a preview of the new PvE mode coming with Overwatch 2.

During the beta, Blizzard will be testing “new features, content and systems”, before shifting to stress-testing servers with a widely available beta with many more players logging in at once. If all goes well, the full game should be on track to release in 2023.

Blizzard will also be revealing details of the next WoW expansion soon, in addition to rolling out the next expansion for Hearthstone.

KitGuru Says: It looks like a lucky few will have the chance to play Overwatch 2 early starting next month. Currently, the full game does not have a final release date, but it is scheduled to release sometime in 2023.
