Obsidian’s Grounded turns two years old, 1.0 release date announced

While Grounded wasn't the type of game many Obsidian fans were hoping for, it has gone on to become one of the most positively received survival games around. Back in June, Obsidian confirmed the game would leave early access in September, but the final release date will fall to the final few days of the month.

In a quick developer update video posted this afternoon, Grounded Game Director, Adam Brennecke, announced that Grounded will be leaving Early Access and launching version 1.0 on the 27th of September.

If you don't plan on taking a break for 1.0, then you have plenty to look forward to in the 0.9 update, which is dropping today and includes a huge revision to the weapon and armour systems, as well as new buildings and cooking mechanics. Bennecke also confirms last week's report about the upcoming Grounded animated series, which is currently being planned.

Following 0.9, most of the final gameplay elements will be in place, but Obsidian is keeping all story content under wraps until 1.0 drops. So far, the opening chapter of the story is playable and it acts as a great teaser. Hopefully the rest of the campaign can deliver with more twists and turns. If story isn't really your thing, then at its core, Grounded is still a great co-op survival game with a unique setting.

KitGuru Says: I played Grounded way back when it first entered Early Access and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to hold off on spoiling the game until 1.0 arrived. Are many of you looking forward to Grounded? Will you be jumping in when 1.0 drops in September?
