Nintendo is making a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

When the Nintendo Switch first launched, the console arrived alongside one killer launch title- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This full open-world take on Zelda proved to be incredibly popular and now, Nintendo is officially working on a direct sequel.

At the very end of Nintendo's E3 Direct presentation, the company announced that Breath of the Wild 2 was now in development, with a short teaser trailer to show it off. The teaser has Link and Zelda walking through a cavern under Hyrule castle, where Gannon appears to be getting resurrected by a mysterious being.

It is a more in-depth teaser than the one we got for Metroid Prime 4 but the messaging is still clear. Development on this is just beginning, so it will be a while before we can actually play it. The original Breath of the Wild took five years to create and this time, the developers are reportedly taking inspiration from Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2.

With all of that in mind, I'm not expecting to see this release in 2020, although 2021 seems like a possibility.

KitGuru Says: Breath of the Wild was an excellent game but there are some improvements I would like to see in the sequel. Either way, I have no doubt that it will be a great game when it eventually arrives. Did many of you play Breath of the Wild on Switch? Are you looking forward to the sequel?
