Nightdive Studios unveils new remasters for Star Wars: Dark Forces and Turok 3

Nightdive has been working away on classic PC games for a while now, having shipped remasters for games like System Shock, Turok 1 & 2, and providing development for the recent re-releases of Quake and Doom 64. We already know that Nightdive is hard at work on a System Shock 2 remaster, but now, two more games have been added to the list – Star Wars: Dark Forces and Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion.

At Gamescom this week, Nightdive unveiled its next pair of remastered games. Turok 3: Shadows of Oblivion can be seen in the trailer below. The re-release will add support for modern displays and controllers, giving players a chance to return to this 2000s FPS, complete with dual protagonists primed for multiple playthroughs.

Alongside this, Nightdive has also announced a remaster of Star Wars: Dark Forces, a game that originally released all the way back in 1995. The game is best known for acting as the debut of Kyle Katarn, a character that eventually returned in future games like Star Wars: Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast. Hopefully, this means we'll also eventually see remasters for Dark Forces 2 and its expansion, Mysteries of the Sith. At that point, the whole Kyle Katarn saga will be playable on modern systems.

We don't have a release date for Star Wars: Dark Forces Remastered just yet but we do know that Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered will be arriving on the 14th of November.
