New wave of Xbox Game Pass titles announced for cloud, console and PC

Microsoft has officially revealed the latest round of Game Pass titles for August. Unfortunately, there is very little ‘new' information here, as every game on the list had leaked weeks ago.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Mafia: Definitive Edition are indeed landing on Game Pass this month. While we typically see 5+ games announced every two weeks, over the last couple of months, Microsoft's Game Pass output has slowed down quite a bit, announcing just a small handful of titles in June and July. This week's announcement for the first half of August contains just three titles.

Those three titles coming to Game Pass in August include:

  • Creatures of Ava (Cloud, Console and PC) – August 7th
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (Cloud, Console and PC) – August 8th
  • Mafia Definitive Edition (Cloud, Console and PC) – August 13th

While the announcements in July were low volume, Microsoft did end up with a couple of surprises. For instance, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 finally landed on Game Pass in late July. Last week, Riot officially launched Valorant for Xbox Series X/S and PS5, and those subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate can link their Xbox and Riot accounts to immediately unlock all available in-game characters.

KitGuru Says: While it is nice to finally see some back-catalogue titles from the Activision library joining Game Pass, we expected far more from Microsoft at this point in the year. One Call of Duty title, Diablo 4 and one old remaster isn't exactly the Game Pass haul fans had in mind for 2024 after Microsoft acquired Activision in late 2023.
