NARAKA: Bladepoint is going free-to-play this month

NARAKA: Bladepoint has been a top-selling game on Steam for a while now and the battle royale title has also made waves on console thanks to an Xbox release, as well as the game's inclusion on Xbox Game Pass. Now, NARAKA: Bladepoint is going through a major change, with plans to switch over to a free to play business model.

Since launch, Naraka: Bladepoint has been a traditional buy-to-play game. However, beginning on the 13th of July, the game will be free to play across all platforms. Speaking of platforms, NetEase is adding a new one to the list, as Naraka: Bladepoint will also be launching on PS5 on the 13th of July.

This update comes in time for Naraka's second anniversary, and in time to celebrate the game's 20 million player milestone. With the move to free-to-play, players can expect a bunch of updates, including a new 12v12 game mode, a new dual-wield weapon, updates to guild functionality, a brand new hero character, new veteran rewards, in-game events and of course, new seasonal cosmetics.

With this move, those who have Naraka: Bladepoint through Xbox Game Pass will be upgraded from the standard edition of the game to the deluxe edition, giving access to a few bonus rewards in-game.

KitGuru Says: I've only played a few hours of Naraka: Bladepoint and while I did enjoy the game quite a bit, I've not gone back to it in months. Perhaps the shift to free-to-play will breathe new life into this game for the years ahead.
