Microsoft outlines Xbox and Bethesda summer showcase plans

Microsoft announced that it would be holding its usual summer games showcase in June, adding that Starfield would get its own dedicated show after the main event. Now, the Xbox team has unveiled its full schedule, with the Xbox Games Showcase happening on the 11th of June, followed by Starfield Direct. Then on the 13th of June, the Xbox team will go live once again for the Xbox Games Showcase Extended.

The Xbox Games Showcase will air on the 11th of June at 10AM PT or for those of us in the UK, 6PM BST. The show should be roughly two hours long. Immediately after the showcase, Bethesda Game Studios will go live with Starfield Direct, giving us a deep dive into Bethesda's upcoming Sci-Fi RPG, which is due to officially release in September.

As is the case every year, we can expect a mix of new game announcements and updates for previously announced titles. Microsoft typically saves the biggest announcements for its summer showcase, so this is where we are most likely to see updates for exclusives like Avowed or Hellblade 2. Microsoft is teasing “new surprises and first-looks” from internal studios and “many creative partners around the world”.

The Xbox Games Showcase Extended stream will go live on the 13th of June at 10AM PT / 6PM BST. The Extended showcase will feature interviews with developers working on new and upcoming games for Xbox, just as we saw last year.

Given that the Activision Blizzard acquisition will not have closed by the time this showcase comes around, don't expect to see much from that side of things.
