Microsoft is bringing back Age of Mythology

Back in 2019, following on from a successful revival of the Age of Empires series, Microsoft also expressed interest in bringing back Age of Mythology. Now, several years later, that is finally happening with Age of Mythology: Retold.

Age of Mythology began as a spin-off of Age of Empires, but switched things up by playing into Greek, Egyptian and Norse mythology. A potential revival of the series was mentioned back in 2019, and in 2021, the subject was brought up again. Now, as part of the Age of Empires 25th Anniversary celebration, Age of Mythology: Retold has been announced. Similarly to Microsoft's recent Age of Empires: Definitive Edition titles, this will be a remaster of the original release.

With that in mind, we can expect updated graphics and support for modern resolutions, tweaks to gameplay to rebalance things and general polishing to bring everything up to modern standards.

There is no release date at this time, but there is a short teaser trailer. Currently, Age of Mythology: Retold has only been announced for PC.
