Over the past few days there has been an apparent spike in cheaters for Marvel Rivals following an update on May 21st. Now, NetEase has confirmed that it has banned hundreds of accounts since the update went live.
In a blog post titled “Penalty announcement: Zero tolerance on cheats”, the Rivals development team said that it has detected “unauthorised third-party enhancements” being used by hundreds of accounts. The development team then goes on to list 485 banned accounts, with user IDs and player names partially censored, alongside the ranks of those banned.
Interestingly, the bans fall into ranks across the full spectrum. There were cheaters in the Bronze and Silver tiers, but there were also cheaters found in higher Celestial, Diamond, Platinum and Grandmaster ranks as well. All of the accounts listed have been permanently banned and from now on, the development team will issue permanent bans straight away when detecting cheaters. Those who evade bans will be upgraded to device ID bans and IP bans.
The development team also denies recent rumours that ‘launch parameters' on Steam can be used to bypass the game's anti-cheat, and encourages players to continue using the in-game reporting functions when coming across a suspicious player.
