Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer hints at Star Wars crossover

Last week, Square Enix officially announced Kingdom Hearts 4, complete with a teaser trailer that may have revealed more than we initially noticed. Following the trailer's release, eagle-eyed fans have been combing through for easter eggs and so far, it looks like a Star Wars cameo has been uncovered.

Throughout the Kingdom Hearts games, Sora visits a number of Disney themed worlds. Typically, this has been limited to traditional Disney and Pixar characters, but it seems that Kingdom Hearts 4 may branch out further. In the trailer, there is a small clip present that shows what looks to be an AT-ST walking along the ground, indicating that we may finally see a Star Wars world incorporated into the Kingdom Hearts series. The clip takes place at 0:36 in the trailer below:

Disney has owned the Star Wars IP for a decade at this point, but we didn't get any cameos in Kingdom Hearts 3. With Kingdom Hearts 4, Square Enix seems to be taking things into a more mature direction, with an older version of Sora.

Perhaps this new direction will include entirely new themes, such as new levels including Star Wars characters. If we're pushing into Star Wars territory, then that could also open the door for Marvel crossovers too.
