Kingdom Come studio now working on LOTR RPG

Warhorse Studios, the team behind the critically acclaimed Kingdom Come Deliverance, has announced its next two projects. Yes, a third Kingdom Come game is being planned, but beyond that, the studio is also now working on a Lord of the Rings RPG. 

In a surprise announcement this week, Warhorse Studios took to social media to tease its next two projects, with one being “a new Kingdom Come adventure” and the other being “an open world Middle-Earth RPG”.

Unfortunately, no further details have been shared yet but fans are already speculating about the wording. The phrasing ‘Middle-Earth RPG' indicates that we will be getting a game set within the LOTR universe, but not directly connected to the story from the books, similarly to how Warner Bros. handled Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War.

Additionally “a new Kingdom Come adventure” is not direct confirmation of Kingdom Come Deliverance 3, so there is some speculation that we may get a spin-off of sorts, or perhaps a Kingdom Come game set in a new genre, rather than a direct sequel to the RPGs released so far.

KitGuru Says: Warhorse Studios is perhaps the perfect pick for a new Lord of the Rings game. The Kingdom Come games were highly impressive, so it will be interesting to see what they come up with in a few years' time.
