Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 set to be a big upgrade over first game

After six long years, we are finally getting to return to medieval Bohemia to continue the journey of Henry. Warhorse Studios has officially announced Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The sequel is even set to be twice as big as the original game.

Kingdom Come Deliverance released back in early 2018 and quickly became a favourite amongst fans. Over time, the game amassed over six million sales, with fans eager to see a sequel. The game drew praise for its unique melee combat system, as well as its overall story, which saw protagonist, Henry, go from a small-time blacksmith assistant, to a knight at the centre of major conflicts.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is slated to release later this year for PC (Steam & Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Notably, the game's creative director, Daniel Vavra, said in a presentation (via IGN) that this game will be “what it was supposed to be in the beginning”, but the studio just “didn't have enough resources and experiences” at the time. With the concept now proven by the first game, the team has taken some big swings with the sequel.

The new game is “much bigger in scope”, with a story that angles towards being “much more epic”. There will be more cutscenes than the first game, but that doesn't come at the expense of gameplay time. The game world has also doubled in size, with plenty to do throughout.

KitGuru Says: Unfortunately, there is no exact release date yet, but it is being planned for 2024, so we'll have to wait and see. If the game needs extra time though, then a delay is always the best option, rather than a rushed release to meet a deadline.
