Keighley teases ‘three or four’ big announcements for Summer Game Fest

June is almost upon us, with many publishers planning to announce new games during shows throughout the month. Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest will be going live on the 8th of June, but Keighley is looking to set expectations early, revealing that the show will have around three or four ”major' announcements.

According to Keighley in an interview published on the Epic Games website, one or two games can make all the difference for announcement shows like this and it can be challenging to lock those reveals in, as sometimes publishers drop out or change plans. Given that Keighley has been running shows like this for well over a decade, he's likely felt the sting of a publisher pulling an announcement more than a few times over the years.

While that is always a concern when setting up shows like this, Keighley says that this year, we can expect “three or four things that are going to be pretty big for this audience”.

In previous years, Summer Game Fest has been used as a platform to show games like Elden Ring. It is possible that From Software will team up with Keighley again this year to showcase Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, which is due to release later this year. A number of other high-profile companies are already on the supporters list for Summer Game Fest too, including Amazon Games, Netflix, Xbox, PlayStation, EA, Activision, Second Dinner (Marvel Snap), Wizards of the Coast (DnD, MTG), Capcom, CD Projekt Red, Paradox, Disney, Epic Games and more.

KitGuru Says: Summer Game Fest has typically focused on smaller announcements rather than major blockbusters, but there usually is a big surprise or two mixed in. It sounds like we'll be getting that same formula this year.
