Insomniac’s Wolverine may release just one year after Spider-Man 2

Insomniac has been very busy since joining Sony officially a few years ago. So far, the company has delivered an expansion to 2018's Spider-Man, a new Rachet & Clank game and is on track to release Spider-Man 2 later this year. As it turns out, Insomniac's other Marvel project, Wolverine, might not be too far behind.

Insomniac has revealed very little about its plans for Wolverine. However, according to insider Jeff Grubb, the studio is targeting a 2024 release, and a few other details about the game have also been shared.

Insomniac's Wolverine will be set prior to the character joining the X-Men. It is also claimed that the game will feature open areas of the map, but not a fully explorable open world as we saw in the Spider-Man games.

It is also suggested that Insomniac might be building up its own little shared universe, although we don't expect to see Spider-Man and Wolverine crossing paths directly, there may be nods towards both heroes in their respective games. It is worth noting that while this could be true, Insomniac has previously stated that it won't be trying to mimick the MCU.

KitGuru Says: Insomniac is a highly productive studio, as shown by the team's ability to meet release dates, avoid major leaks and pump out projects back to back. If any other studio were tackling these games, I'd expect Wolverine to be two or three years behind Spider-Man 2, but with Insomniac, I feel that they might just be able to pull this off.
