iFixit now offers Steam Deck SSD upgrades

Last year, Valve teamed up with iFixit to offer a range of replacement parts and repair tools available for Steam Deck users. Now, iFixit is taking things a step further and is offering upgraded Steam Deck SSDs.

You can now buy 512GB, 1TB and 2TB replacement SSDs for the Steam Deck through iFixit. Due to the Steam Deck's use of 2230 NVMe SSDs, it was harder to find a reliable source for replacement SSDs, but that is now starting to change for the better.

There is a cost factor involved here. On iFixIt, prices start at $100 for the 512GB SSD, or $105 if you also want the tools needed to open up the Deck and replace the SSD. The 1TB option comes in at $180 and the 2TB option is $300, so it can be an expensive upgrade.

Here in the UK, Scan is one of few retailers stocking a Deck-suitable 2230-sized M.2 SSD, the Sabrent Rocket 2230 1TB, which costs just under £160.

KitGuru Says: Hopefully we'll continue to see improvements in availability for Deck-suitable SSDs. Right now, the market is still quite small and as a result, prices are also quite high.
