Horizon Forbidden West shown off in gameplay stream

Sony held its most-watched State of Play stream earlier this week, during which we got a fresh 15 minutes of gameplay for Horizon Forbidden West, the long-awaited sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn.

Horizon Forbidden West is set to be Sony's major holiday season exclusive, although the game unfortunately does not have a final release date yet. Currently, the game is planned to release in late 2021 for both PS4 and PS5:

The new gameplay demo takes us through the lush environments of an overgrown San Francisco. Graphically, the sequel is looking incredible on the PlayStation 5, leading us to doubt how well this game will be capable of running on older base PS4 consoles.

Combat is familiar to Horizon Zero Dawn, with robot dinosaurs roaming and Aloy taking them out with her trusty bow. Later in the demo, we see some new combos with the staff and bow while fighting human enemies. We also see some upgrades to exploration, with better climbing, a grappling hook to reach further away areas, a glider to safely drop down from high areas and huge under water sections.

KitGuru Says: We still don't know when this game is coming out, but according to the developers, it is still on track for this year. What do you all think of the new gameplay for Horizon Forbidden West?
