Hitman 3 buyers get free upgrades following backlash on Steam

After a year of Epic Games Store exclusivity, Hitman 3 officially came to Steam last week. Since release, the Steam version of the game has been met with complaints, in part due to its price tag one year on from release. IO Interactive has taken that feedback on board at this point, and will be offering all Hitman 3 owners upgrades.

Hitman 3 released on Steam at full price, despite being a year old, there was also no discount in place for those who already owned Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 on Steam. To make up for this, IO Interactive will now be giving upgrades to owners of the game, so those who bought the Standard Edition will be bumped to the Deluxe Edition.

Here are the upgrade options as laid out by IO Interactive:

  • All HITMAN 3 Standard Edition ($59.99) owners will get a free upgrade to the HITMAN 3 Deluxe Edition ($79.99).
  • All HITMAN 3 Deluxe Edition or HITMAN Trilogy owners will get a free upgrade to the Seven Deadly Sins Collection.

That offer will remain in place for anyone picking up Hitman 3 on Steam up to the 19th of February. Your DLC entitlements will be applied automatically too, so you don't need to go to a website and put in a claim. After the February deadline, it will go back to business as usual, although we'll likely see the game in a Steam Sale sooner rather than later, likely during the Spring.
