Helldivers 2 is coming to PC on day-one alongside PS5

Back in 2015, Sony teamed up with Arrowhead Games for Helldivers, a top-down shooter that first arrived on PlayStation and came to PC at a later date. Last night during the PlayStation Showcase, a sequel was officially announced. Helldivers 2 will be a third-person shooter instead, and unlike the first game, it will be launching day-one on PC alongside PlayStation 5.

Helldivers 2 is due to launch later this year. The game has been in development for a few years already, as confirmed by game director, Johan Pilestedt.

As we can see from the trailer, the game has evolved quite a bit. The game is no longer played from a top-down view, opting for a third-person camera instead so players can get closer to the action. Arrowhead is promising “adrenaline-fueled moments” and “intense action” as well as moments of levity, with over-the-top firepower that can end your team's run in hilarious ways if handled recklessly.

Helldivers 2 doesn't have an exact release date yet, but it will be coming to PS5 and PC sometime before the end of the year. Presumably, the game will include crossplay, but that has not yet been confirmed.

KitGuru Says: Based on the trailer, this game seems to take some inspiration from Starship Troopers, which is always a good thing in my book. Will any of you be picking this up later in the year?
