Halo support studio ‘Certain Affinity’ acquired

For a while, Certain Affinity appeared destined to become an Xbox studio, having provided long-term development on the Halo franchise. In recent years, the small studio had been building the much-rumoured Halo Battle Royale game. Unfortunately, we recently learned that project was scrapped. Now, Certain Affinity has joined up with a new company.

Following the cancellation of its Halo Battle Royale game, Certain Affinity has been acquired by Keywords Studios. This little-known company has been around for over 25 years and has recently acquired studios like Hardsuit Labs, Wushu Studios and The Multiplayer Group.

As reported by GI.biz, the deal included an upfront cash sum, as well as a bonus condition based on future performance. It is unclear what Certain Affinity's next project will be.

Speaking on the acquisition, Certain Affinity stated that Keywords' “willingness to invest” in the studios' growth was a core tenant to the merger.

KitGuru Says: It will be interesting to see what Certain Affinity works on next. It is a shame we'll never see their ideas for a new Halo multiplayer experience come to fruition.
