GTA V mod lets you control virtual phone with app

Modders are continuing to experiment with Grand Theft Auto V for the PC. The latest addition to the game comes from DIY Projects Planetleak, who has made a smartphone app to emulate and control the virtual smartphone found in the game.

This has nothing to do with the iFruit companion app, which Rockstar released alongside the original console versions of Grand Theft Auto V. In a video posted to YouTube, we can see the app running on an iPhone, controlling the smartphone in GTA V: [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8fvdqZ17Dk']

The communication between the phone and the game is a little on the slow side but the creator is working on making it a bit more responsive. The mod itself is not actually downloadable right now as getting it to work is a bit of a complicated process in comparison to other mods.

What we are seeing in the video is the app on the iPhone created with Xcode. Inputs from the iPhone are then used to send a URL to an Arduino web-server, which then sends the inputs to the game using macros.

KitGuru Says: The mod itself is pretty cool and the process to get it all working correctly shows some dedication. Unfortunately, it isn't a simple mod that you can just download and install so you likely won't be trying this out yourselves for now.
