GTA and Red Dead Redemption writers join Dan Houser at Absurd Ventures

Dan Houser left Rockstar after the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 and revealed his new game studio, Absurd Ventures, this year. Now, two of Rockstar's most credited creatives are joining him.

As reported by Begeek, former Vice President of writing at Rockstar Games, Michael Unsworth, and former writer and producer, Lazlow Jones, have now joined Dan Houser at Absurd Ventures.

Unsworth has credits writing on Midnight Club: Los Angeles, L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3, GTA 4, GTA 5, as well as both Red Dead Redemption titles. He joins Absurd Ventures as the company's lead on story and creative management. Jones, who worked on every GTA title since GTA 3, the Red Dead Redemption games, as well as titles like L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3.

This news follows on from the revealing of two newly filed trademarks from Absurd Ventures, one for a project called “American Caper” and another called “A Better Life”. Neither project has been officially announced yet, so very little is publicly known about them. However, the trademark filings do list them under the “downloadable computer software” category, pointing towards both being video games, potentially with a mobile companion app of sorts.

In the future, Absurd Ventures will expand into multimedia projects and already seems to have ambitions of making a TV show.

KitGuru Says: It is worth noting that Rockstar has been without these two employees for a while now, so this won't have any impact on the continued development of Grand Theft Auto 6, which is set to be officially unveiled in early December.
