Gotham Knights trailer introduces Court of Owls

As promised, over the weekend during DC Fandome, WB Games Montreal dropped new trailers and details for two upcoming titles – Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad. After being delayed out of 2021, Gotham Knights is now set to launch sometime in 2022, and thanks to the new trailer, we know much more about what to expect.

In Gotham Knights, we'll be running around a supposedly ‘non-Arkham' version of Gotham City as one of four heroes – Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood or Robin. Batman is nowhere to be found, an opportunity that villains like Penguin and the Court of Owls hope to take advantage of.

The new trailer focuses on setting up the story for the game, confirming the Court of Owls as the main villain. It would appear that Penguin wants them out of the way as well, so expect some villain on villain warfare too.

While Gotham Knights' initial unveiling made it sound like a live-service game, WB Montreal insists that is not the case, with producer Fleur Marty stating the following in a 2019 interview: “This is very much not designed as a game-as-service. There is an ability tree, which is different for each of the characters, and then there’s gear that you craft—and so choices that you’re going to be making—but that does not mean that this is a game-as-service.”

While the new trailer for Gotham Knights was not accompanied by a release date, the game is slated to come out some time in 2022, likely in the first half of the year, while Rocksteady's Suicide Squad targets a holiday 2022 release window.

KitGuru Says: It has been a while since we've had a big DC game but that'll be changing next year. Are any of you looking forward to Gotham Knights or Suicide Squad?
