God of War: Ragnarök director asks fans for patience as release date reveal gets delayed

Recently, all signs have been pointing towards new God of War: Ragnarök information being revealed this week. Following several leaks, we were anticipating a release date and possibly even a new trailer. Unfortunately, it seems plans have been delayed further.

After weeks of anticipation building amongst fans, God of War director, Cory Barlog, returned to Twitter to ask for more patience, saying: “dear all, if it were up to me I would share all the information when I know about it. but it is not up to me. So please, be patient.”

Barlog added that details will be shared “at the earliest possible moment they can be”. This seems to be in response to recent rumours pointing to a release date announcement today, the 30th of June. Those reports came from reputable sources, so it seems likely that there was a planned reveal, but the team needs more time.

God of War: Ragnarök was originally planned for 2021 but was later delayed to 2022. Currently, the game is expected to release in November, but given all of these announcement delays, we wouldn't be surprised to see it slip into early 2023.
