Gears 5 is launching in September on Xbox and PC

At E3 last year, Microsoft officially announced Gears of War 5 with an impressive looking gameplay trailer. Last night, we got to see a tiny bit more of the game, although the biggest news was the release date, with Gears 5 now set for a September launch.

As previously leaked, Gears of War 5 will be releasing on PC and Xbox on the 10th of September. It will also be available through Xbox Game Pass and Game Pass PC on launch day. If you happen to have Game Pass Ultimate, then you will get access to the Gears 5 ‘Ultimate Edition', which lets you play four days early on the 6th of September.

Microsoft chose not to show any of the single-player campaign for Gears 5 during its conference, despite it being touted as the most impressive game in the series to date. However, we did get updates on the multiplayer side of things, including a brand new game mode called ‘Escape', where a small squad of players plant a bomb in enemy territory and then have to fight their way out. Horde mode will also be returning in Gears 5.

The Gears 5 multiplayer beta test will be held on the 17th of July, so that will be your first chance to get hands-on with the game. This will be a limited test and from the sounds of it, Game Pass subscribers will get in first before anyone else.

KitGuru Says: I was quite surprised that we didn't touch on the single-player campaign for Gears 5 yesterday, although the trailer showing Kait's face did give us some hints at what's to come story-wise. Either way, it won't be much longer until we get our hands on the game. Are many of you looking forward to Gears 5? Will you be getting it on PC through Game Pass or Steam?
