Game Pass gets weak second wave for July

Given that Microsoft just confirmed plans for a major Game Pass shake-up that will see prices going up, we were hoping for a bit more of a substantial list of games in the second half of July. While there are some decent games coming over the next two weeks, the list of titles is small.

There are five more games joining Game Pass before the end of the month. Two of those, Flock and Magical Delicacy, were already announced titles launching today as day-one additions to Game Pass. Later this week, two more titles will be launching on day-one for Game Pass subscribers, including Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn and Dungeons of Hinterberg, both launching on July 18th for PC, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

The final game joining Game Pass this month is Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, another day-one game for the library. This title is a Japanese-inspired action strategy game, launching for Cloud, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC on the 19th of July.

As the situation currently stands, that means we won't be seeing anymore Game Pass drops after this week. Typically, Microsoft spreads these drops out a bit better, so there is at least something each week but for whatever reason, that was not possible for July. Fortunately, signs are pointing to a bigger month in August, as sources have claimed we will finally see more Activision titles joining Game Pass.

KitGuru Says: Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard specifically to boost its Game Pass output, so to see such a weak month now, almost a full year on from the acquisition, is disappointing. With Bethesda, Microsoft was quick to drop a big pile of fan-favourite titles. With Activision, Microsoft seems to be dropping the ball pretty hard, despite costing the company 10x more to acquire.
