In recent weeks, former Bayonetta lead voice actor, Hellena Taylor, has been looking to drum up support for a boycott of the game after claiming to have been offered a very low rate to return for Bayonetta 3. It quickly came out that we were missing some key details to the story and sure enough, Taylor has now admitted to a few details that were not previously mentioned.
One of Taylor's biggest claims in her original videos was that PlatinumGames only offered her a $4000 flat rate to voice Bayonetta for the new game. Reports then claimed that the actual offer was closer to around $15,000 depending on the number of sessions needed. As it turns out, a $15,000 offer did exist, something that Taylor now admits.
In a new series of tweets posted last night, Taylor sought to defend her reputation by adding a few more details to the mix. According to Taylor's updated account of events, PlatinumGames had initially offered Taylor $10,000 to appear in the game. Then, when she turned that down, they offered her an extra $5,000 to return for Bayonetta 3. When that was turned down, PlatinumGames went in another direction, but still offered Taylor $4000 for a cameo appearance, an offer that was also turned down.
Taylor also adds that she did not participate in any “extensive” negotiations, and also claims that the idea that she was offered $4,000 for 5 sessions is also untrue. She ends off by saying that she did not ask for a ‘ridiculous' $250,000 sum to appear in the game, but also did not reveal how much she would have accepted had negotiations continued.
Finally, we also learn that Taylor initially made £3000 for her role in the first Bayonetta and ‘a little more' for the second game. Taylor continues to claim that the Bayonetta franchise has made $450 million over its lifespan, but that figure has not been backed up elsewhere just yet.

KitGuru Says: We have very little publicly available information on voice actor compensation in the games industry, so we don't know what the standard rate typically is for a lead role in a multi-game series. Ultimately, from an outsider's perspective, $15,000 sounds like a good chunk of money, but whether or not that is good in the context of an ongoing series that has sold multi-million copies, is anyone's guess.
