Firewalk Studios continues development on Concord

When Sony first took Concord off the market, the company remained open about the game returning in the future. As it turns out, Firewalk Studios has recently been updating the game behind the scenes.

Recent updates to Concord have been spotted via SteamDB, a site that monitors and tracks back-end activity. While we can't see what the latest updates contain, it is widely expected that when the game returns, it will be reworked as a free-to-play game.

Sony first revealed Concord last year as part of a State of Play stream almost entirely dedicated to live service games. Fan reactions were not particularly positive from the get-go, with many stating that it looked like a generic version of Guardians of the Galaxy. Due to the game's lack of standout characters or gameplay features, many opted to skip the game's pre-launch beta, and ultimately, it is estimated that fewer than 25,000 people purchased the game at launch.

Sony was quick to react by removing the game from sale on PS5 and PC. Everyone who did buy it was automatically issued a refund. It is unclear when Concord will return, but the game is due to be featured in an upcoming episode of the Amazon Prime series, Secret Level.

KitGuru Says: At the very least, the failed launch has led to far many more gamers knowing about Concord – something that the game's initial marketing did not achieve. Whether or not this can be used to give Concord's impending re-launch a boost remains to be seen.
