Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo has arrived, progress carries over to full game

As predicted, last night during Sony's Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth stream, Square Enix officially announced plans for a demo. Better yet, if you have a PS5, you can download it right now.

The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo has arrived on PS5, ahead of the game's full release on the 29th of February. In Rebirth, players will finally get to explore the massive world of Final Fantasy 7, beyond the city of Midgar, which was the only location available in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

A new chunk of gameplay has also been released, which you can view above. While last year's Final Fantasy 16 focused more on linear gameplay with some smaller, open maps, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will offer a much bigger open world to explore, with areas seamlessly stitched together.

If you get started in the game through the demo, you'll be able to carry your progress over to the full game, so the demo is an opportunity to get playing early. An update to the demo is planned in the weeks ahead that will open up a bit more of the map too.

KitGuru Says: The Final Fantasy 16 demo was massive, so it will be interesting to see how much playtime people manage to get out of the Rebirth demo. Are any of you planning on downloading the demo, or will you just wait for the full game at the end of the month?
