Final Fantasy 16 has gone gold

Square Enix has been hard at work on Final Fantasy 16 for years now and fans have been patiently waiting for the game's launch. While delays are typical for major games nowadays, it looks like we won't have to worry about that with Final Fantasy 16, as the game has now officially gone gold ahead of its late June release.

Over the weekend, Square Enix announced the development milestone. With Final Fantasy 16 going gold, physical copies of the game can start being produced and any extra development time can now be used to further test the game and ensure it is in the best possible state for launch.

Final Fantasy 16 was first revealed in 2020, as part of Sony's PS5 launch marketing. The game will be exclusive to Sony's current-gen console for at least six months and after that, the game could release on other platforms. While it seems highly unlikely that the game comes to Xbox, it has been confirmed for PC, although the team behind the game has already warned fans that the PC version won't be ready to release after the PlayStation exclusivity period ends.

With that in mind, it seems more likely that Final Fantasy 16 will get a PC release in the second half of 2024, or perhaps later if Sony and Square Enix extend their deal, as they did with Final Fantasy VII Remake.

KitGuru Says: Final Fantasy 16 has gone gold, which greatly reduces the chances of any delays beyond the currently announced release date.
