Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes delayed to 2024

Back in 2020, a group of former Suikoden developers formed a new studio and kickstarted Eiyuden Chronicle, a new JRPG and spiritual successor to Suikoden. Following a successful campaign, the game has remained in development for several years, with a smaller prequel arriving last year. Unfortunately, the main game, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, needs a bit more time in development.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising was announced and released last year, intended as a prequel to Hundred Heroes and a teaser of what’s to come. Those itching to see what comes next will have to wait a little while longer, as the release date has been pushed back to Q2 2024. This will give the developers another nine months or so to polish up the game for release across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes has already made some money through Kickstarter, as well as a subsequent publishing deal with 505 Games and another deal to bring the game to Xbox Game Pass at launch. The prequel, Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, is also available through Game Pass.

In the most recent Kickstarter developer update, the devs confirmed that the story for the main game is complete, as well as a future DLC. The team also teases that more news about the game may arrive during the Tokyo Game Show later this year.

KitGuru Says: I’ve had my eye on this game for a while. Given that it was only crowdfunded in 2020, this delay is understandable. Game development can be a long process and getting the main game and a prequel out in the span of three years would have been a tall order.
