EA’s Monster Hunter rival ‘Wild Hearts’ gets gameplay trailer and February release date

Earlier this month, EA announced a partnership with Koei Tecmo and Omega Force to produce a new Monster Hunting game to rival Capcom's Monster Hunter series. That game is now officially known as ‘Wild Hearts', and it will be coming out in 2023.

The reveal trailer surprisingly includes a lot of gameplay, rather than relying on cinematics. As promised, the game is inspired by Feudal Japan, and you will be hunting down giant beasts just as you do in Monster Hunter. However, Wild Hearts differentiates itself in the crafting department, adding more traps and tools for players to use. Combat also generally appears to be paced faster than Capcom's Monster Hunter titles.

Speaking on the game, Koei Tecmo's Yosuke Hayashi said: “WILD HEARTS opens up a vibrant fantasy world to players that’s as untamed as it is beautiful. With Wild Hearts, not only did we want to showcase the evolution, infusion and real threat caused by Kemono, but we also wanted to create a game where crafting was at the core of the experience, redefining what can be possible in a beast hunting game. We have placed great care in designing our Karakuri to fit within the combat, and we’re excited for players to use these powerful mechanisms to fight giant beasts and traverse the world.”

Wild Hearts isn't far off either. The game is currently scheduled to launch on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5 on the 17th of February 2023.

KitGuru Says: A Monster Hunter style game with better multiplayer functionality and some combat changes does sound right up my alley. Will you be trying this one out when it launches next year?
