EA assembles dev squad to finally address technical issues in The Sims 4

The Sims 4 is around a decade old at this point and during that time, EA has primarily focused on releasing new DLC content. Now, following the game's transition to being free-to-play, EA is finally assembling a strike squad to deal with the game's myriad of technical issues.

If you've been waiting for bug fixes for The Sims 4, well you may finally be in luck. Recently, EA announced that it has put together a new team to invest in the “core game experience, including tackling technical issues”. Why this wasn't deemed like an important step before is anyone's guess, but we would bet it has something to do with time and cost, combined with the fact that those resources would take away from work on future sellable content.

Here is the relevant part of EA's most recent Sims announcement:

“You may notice we’re investigating more issues than previous months; this is because we’ve assembled a team to invest in the core game experience, including tackling technical issues within The Sims 4 . We have continued to review reported concerns that have interrupted your The Sims 4 gameplay over time, and we recognize that this has caused much frustration. It’s why we have set out to form this focused team, which will be able to increase both the number of fixes we can address and how often we ship these batched updates.”

“Our goal is to fix more reported concerns, both big and small, over the next six months and beyond to check off more boxes on our Laundry List.”

The first update is now available, fixing a list of issues impacting several aspects of the game. Currently, the developers hope to have a big bug-bashing patch every two months until the ‘laundry list' of issues has been cleared. At the same time, EA is also working on The Sims 5.
