Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D arrives this year, followed by Dragon Quest 1&2 in 2025

During today's Nintendo Direct, Square Enix finally announced the release date for its long-awaited HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest 3. That's not all though, Square Enix has announced plans to complete the full trilogy, with Dragon Quest 1 & 2 also set to get a HD-2D remake in 2025.

If you are new to these games, that means you may want to wait until next year to pick up the Dragon Quest 3 remake. While most of the Dragon Quest games are standalone, similar to Final Fantasy, the first three games in the series all follow the story of Erdrick, so redoing all three games makes perfect sense here.

During the Direct, the game's director said that fans may enjoy experiencing the trilogy in reverse order, but it is unclear if this advice would remain true for newcomers who didn't experience the original games.

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D releases on November this year, followed by a bundle including Dragon Quest 1 & 2 in 2025.

KitGuru Says: It is nice to see that the full trilogy is being made and as a big fan of Square Enix's classic turn-based RPGs and the more modern HD-2D graphics, I'll be picking these up for sure once they come to Steam.
