Diablo 4 is Blizzard’s fastest selling game of all time

While those who forked out for the pricey Digital Deluxe or Ultimate editions of Diablo IV have been playing for a few days already, the standard edition release and official launch are happening today. Immediately upon release, Blizzard announced that Diablo 4 is now the company's fastest-selling game ever.

Blizzard broke a similar record with Diablo 3 over a decade ago, with that game going on to become the fastest-selling PC game at the time. Now with Diablo 4, Blizzard has found its fastest-selling game to date.

Since early access began on June 1st, more than 93 million hours of game time have been logged by the player base – the equivalent of 10,000 years of playtime. Speaking on this milestone, Blizzard's Diablo GM, Rod Fergusson, said:

“This is a moment years in the making for the Diablo IV team. We’re extremely proud to offer players the richest story ever told in a Diablo game. Players have a range of choices, including personal character customization, equipping personalized skills for battling horrific demons, or collecting Legendary loot to support your playstyle while discovering new ones.”

Diablo IV was first announced at BlizzCon back in 2019 and the development team has been hard at work ever since. The game has had a much smoother launch than Diablo 3 as well with few log-in and queue issues on day-one.
