Dataminers confirm Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2

The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1 has arrived and fans are already datamining to discover what's next for the franchise. This year, Konami officially unveiled the new remaster collection, containing the first half of the Metal Gear series for modern platforms, as well as a remake for Metal Gear Solid 3. Now, it also looks like fans can expect an additional Metal Gear Solid Master Collection.

After scrolling through lines of code within the game files, Metal Gear fans found references to Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid 5 and former PSP exclusive, Peace Walker. This seems to suggest exactly what we began expecting months ago – a Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2 is on the way.

The biggest part of this collection will undoubtedly be Metal Gear Solid 4 finally becoming available on other platforms. The game launched as a PS3 exclusive and due to the Xbox 360's lack of blu-ray drive, an Xbox version was never made. The game has also never made its way to PC, so this will give a lot of fans a chance to try the game for the very first time.

Of course, we'd also expect to see MGS 5, its standalone prequel, Ground Zeroes, as well as a further updated version of Peace Walker, which initially released as a PSP game before making its way to Xbox and PlayStation home consoles via the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.

We wouldn't be doing our jobs properly if we didn't temper expectations though. The Master Collection Vol 1 has a number of issues, including locked frame rates and resolutions in some cases. This can be fixed on PC through mods but other systems will have to live with the quality settings Konami has opted for. As reported by Eurogamer, developers have already identified a number of issues to address with the collection in future patches.

KitGuru Says: Seeing MGS 4 on other platforms after all these years would be something. As long as the game isn't held back by arbitrary resolution and frame rate locks on PC, it should be well received.
