Cyberpunk 2077 surpasses The Witcher 3 in all-time peak players

It has been roughly two weeks since Cyberpunk: Edgerunners debuted on Netflix and so far, the show has done wonders for the reputation of the game too. Following the success of the show, many have flocked back to Cyberpunk 2077, and now, the game has surpassed The Witcher 3 in all-time peak concurrent players.

Cyberpunk 2077 did not garner the same level of acclaim that The Witcher 3 did at launch. However, after several major patches, a next-gen console launch, and a potential Anime of the Year contending spin-off show, the game has seen a huge resurgeance in players and popularity. Over the weekend, the game surpassed 104,000 concurrent players on Steam – surpassing The Witcher 3's all-time peak, which sits at 103,329 players.

Cyberpunk 2077 has also had an additional flood of positive reviews on Steam, bringing the game's overall rating to ‘Mostly Positive', based on over 421,000 individual user reviews.

Last week, CD Projekt Red revealed that across all platforms, Cyberpunk 2077 had over 1 million players each day. Currently, patches and content updates for the game are on a break. CD Projekt Red is planning to release Update 1.7, the next major patch, in 2023, which will include a revamped police system in-game. The upcoming expansion ‘Phantom Liberty' is also releasing in 2023.
