Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 13 million copies

Back on launch day, CD Projekt Red revealed that over eight million people had pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077. Since then, there has been controversy over bugs and refunds have been offered to those unhappy with the game on Xbox One and PS4 consoles. Despite refunds, the game is still a huge success, having sold 13 million copies as of the 20th of December.

The 13 million copies sold number takes into account refunds, so if the game had launched in a better state, it would have hit a bigger milestone. With that said, the company has not revealed how many refunds have been requested to date.

This makes Cyberpunk 2077 one of the best selling games of the year already and with DLC and expansions on the way, there is plenty more room for growth. Investors aren't all convinced though, as CD Projekt Red's share price has yet to recover from the rocky launch.

As reported by Reuters, some analysts expected launch week sales in the 16 million range.

KitGuru Says: Cyberpunk 2077 was always going to be huge at launch, now we have to see how well the game stands the test of time with long-term sales.
