Counter-Strike 2 sees spike in negative reviews following bugs and CS:GO removal

Counter-Strike 2 has been out for a few weeks now and more players are returning to check out the changes from CS:GO. Now a few weeks in, players are starting to zero in on the game's issues, leading to a spike in negative reviews.

Counter-Strike 2 currently has an overall positive rating on Steam, however, it is worth noting that millions of those positive reviews carried over from CS:GO, as Valve essentially replaced the old game with CS2. The old CS:GO store page and library listings now link to CS2 instead. With that in mind, it is the recent reviews rating we want to look at, rather than the overall rating.

Since launching the Counter-Strike 2 update, the game's recent rating has dropped to Mixed, the lowest of any current Valve game. The spike in recent negative reviews comes from players who are annoyed at losing access to CS:GO in its old form, as well as those facing issues with the gameplay changes. More than a few reviews also refer to a hitbox bug that meant shots weren't registering damage properly, although this is something Valve has begun addressing with patches.

It would seem that a few weeks in, the overall sentiment towards Counter-Strike 2 is taking a negative turn. The game will almost certainly bounce back after some more updates but for now, players aren't too happy.

KitGuru Says: I do think removing CS:GO from existence was a silly choice, but that may have had more to do with advancing the esports scene, rather than making customers happy. Eventually, I would like to see it come back as CS:GO Classic or something but I wouldn't expect that for a couple of years at least.
