Capcom has record-breaking year

Capcom has seen incredible growth over the last decade, in large part thanks to the continued success of major franchises like Resident Evil, Devil May Cry and Monster Hunter. This past year was the best in Capcom's entire history, with the company selling just over 59 million games in total.

The previous record for Capcom was just shy of 52 million games sold in a single year. Over the past year, that number reached 59 million, with the record-making difference being the 7+ million copies of Resident Evil Requiem sold so far.

Interestingly, over 83% of its sales came from what Capcom classifies as ‘Catalogue' games. This includes past Resident Evil and Monster Hunter titles, as well as the likes of Devil May Cry 5 and Street Fighter 6. Capcom also specified that 93% of its game sales were for digital downloads.

Capcom has started off the new fiscal year on a high note, thanks to the success of its brand-new IP, Pragmata, which has sold over two million copies since launch.

KitGuru Says: Capcom has become quite the powerhouse since shipping Resident Evil 7.
