Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II expansion will include campaign DLC too

Last week, sources claimed that Infinity Ward is planning a massive expansion for Modern Warfare II sometime after launch. We heard this would include many classic Call of Duty maps, but as it turns out, this expansion may also include new content for other modes, including the campaign.

Call of Duty used to sell map packs back in the day, but more recently, maps have traditionally been offered for free so as not to splinter the player base. This Modern Warfare II expansion could end up offering much more than that though. According to Jason Schreier's sources, Infinity Ward's expansion is planned for 2023 as there will be no new mainline release next year.

Ghost Of Hope, a Call of Duty leaker, also recently reported that this expansion will include campaign DLC and a map pack featuring classic maps from throughout Call of Duty's history, with a particular focus on Infinity Ward's maps. For instance, all the maps from the original Modern Warfare 2, which was released in 2009, are said to be included.

This would be the first time we've ever seen a Call of Duty campaign expansion post-launch. Previously, all post-launch efforts have focused on multiplayer modes, like Zombies, traditional multiplayer and more recently, Warzone.

KitGuru Says: As a big fan of 2019's Modern Warfare campaign, I am really looking forward to returning to COD this year for Modern Warfare II. If the expansion can deliver some new memorable levels and some more big setpiece moments, then I'll consider that a win, just as long as it isn't priced as a full game.
