Call of Duty is finally returning to Steam after lengthy hiatus

Ever since Black Ops 4, new Call of Duty games have been absent from the Steam library, with Activision instead choosing to release the games on Blizzard's Battle.net service instead. Last week, we heard that Call of Duty might finally be returning to Steam this year, and now, Valve may have confirmed exactly that.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022) will be getting a full reveal trailer on the 8th of June at 6PM BST. In an odd move, the official Steam Twitter account retweeted the announcement and teaser trailer with an ‘eyes' emoji, hinting that Call of Duty is coming back to Steam. Valve does not have a history of tweeting about games not available on Steam, especially on the Steam Twitter page.

This follows on from a leak last week, in which brand new Modern Warfare 2 artwork was spotted on the Steam Store, suggesting that Activision Blizzard is uploading assets to a hidden Steam page for the upcoming game.

There are a ton of back-catalogue Call of Duty titles on Steam and they still sell quite well even to this day. Since losing publishers like Activision and EA, Valve did make some adjustments to its Steam revenue sharing model, which sees Valve taking a smaller cut on games that generate a certain amount of revenue. This helped Valve convince EA to come back to Steam, and it seems that Valve has also been able to sway Activision back into the fold too.

KitGuru Says: At this point, it seems that Call of Duty will most definitely be coming back to Steam this year. Will you be moving back over to Steam for future games? Or will you still be using Battle.net?

KitGuru Games: The Genius Casting of Kaitlyn Dever in HBO’s The Last of Us

Following an explosive and highly popular first series, HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 is almost upon us. Set to premiere on the 13th of April, the sequel season based on Naughty Dog’s controversial Part II is likely to spark up even more discourse than the first. Unlike 2020’s masterpiece however, HBO’s adaptation has made one key decision which – if handled well – could not only serve to build upon the theming of the game itself, but also function as a different way to tell the same message. That being the casting of Kaitlyn Dever as Abby.
