Bungie shows off revamped Moon map in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep dev diary

It has been just over a month since Bungie announced its first independent expansion for Destiny 2. Shadowkeep arrives in September and will finally bring back the moon as a playable location, after being removed in the jump from Destiny 1 to Destiny 2. Now, a new trailer has released to give us a good look at the new map.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is a standalone expansion, so you don’t need to own the previous DLCs in order to play it. The story will have guardians landing on a revamped version of Earth’s moon, with the map being much bigger than the one we saw in Destiny 1.

You can get a taste of the changes being made to the map in the developer video above. Part of the story will explore the mysteries of the traveller a bit more, directly tying into the post-credits scene from the base Destiny 2 campaign.

This is largely excellent news, as Destiny has a habit of starting new story threads with each expansion without really revisiting loose ends left over from previous content. Now that Bungie is independent and doing things its own way, that appears to be changing.

KitGuru Says: I loved Destiny when it came out and just recently got back into Destiny 2. I am still rooting for the game but hopefully whatever changes come through this time end up sticking for the long haul, rather than leaving the game to be re-invented each year. Are many of you still playing Destiny 2? Will you be getting the new expansion in September?
